Youth & STEM

Hands-on technology experiences for young creators.

Tech-Futures helps young people move from using technology to understanding, building, and creating with it. Programs combine instruction, teamwork, and practical projects in a supportive learning environment.

What students explore

Program areas

Students move at their own pace through areas that build on each other. Nobody needs prior experience to start.

Scratch & introductory coding

No experience needed

Visual programming that makes loops, logic, and events click before syntax gets in the way.

Robotics & electronics

No experience needed

Circuits, sensors, and motors. Machines students design, wire, and program themselves.

Python programming

Comfortable with a keyboard

The step from blocks to real code, used to build games, tools, and small automations.

Artificial intelligence fundamentals

Some coding experience helpful

What AI actually does, how it is trained, where it fails, and how to use it responsibly.

Raspberry Pi & Internet of Things

Some coding experience helpful

Small computers connected to the physical world: lights, sensors, cameras, and data.

Computer hardware & building

No experience needed

What is inside the machine, how the parts work together, and how to build one safely.

Audience
Young learners, age range confirmed at enrollment
Outcome
A finished project the student presents to the group
Format
In person at the Chesapeake center, recurring sessions
